Introducing Tribute Press

Well, as the wonderful medium of comics evolves, a lot of trends come and go. Leaving behind certain genres and tropes and, in doing so, the readers that loved them. We love comics but when we look at the ‘New this Week’ section there isn’t a lot to get excited about. The same house styles, poor storytelling and a desperation to appeal to a new generation of movie lovers.

If you look hard enough though, and in the right places, you’ll find that there are comics being made somewhere that have a little something about them. Books that break the mould and challenge the predictable. Books that see the latest offering from the big companies and revel in doing the complete opposite. Renegades of the industry. Outlaws of the medium.

Maybe, if you’re a bit like us, you can list your favourite independent creators on one hand as you search desperately for others who are daring to be creative in an industry stuck in a rut. We want to bring those creators together and give them a stage to proudly flip off anyone daring to promote their latest amateurish fantasy trash.

We’re desperate for more books that call upon the dirty individualism of 60’s underground, the nostalgic simplicity of the bronze age, and the unashamed violence of the 80’s black and white boom. That’s why we’ve decided to do something about it.

Comics are subjective and many won’t like what we do, but I think a few – including us – are crying out for the medium to show some teeth. They don’t make ’em like they used to, but we’re going to try!
