Al Hollingsworth Obituary, Halifax Nova Scotia, Al Hollingsworth Has Died joy anchie, August 7, 2023 Al Hollingsworth Obituary, Death – On Sunday, May 31, 2020, Dr. Albert Stephens Hollingsworth, Jr., 77, of Anderson, South Carolina, peacefully passed away in his home. He had a rich life marked by his steadfast trust in God, his intense love for his family and friends, and his unceasing sense of duty to his neighborhood and his coworkers. He was the late Albert Hollingsworth, Sr. and Louvale Goodin Hollingsworth’s son, and he was born on January 10, 1943, in Griffin, Georgia. He attained A.A. B.A. from Oxford’s Emory in 1962. M.D. from Emory University in 1964. in 1968 from the Medical College of Georgia. From 1969 to 1971, Dr. Hollingsworth proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a General Medical Officer at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He worked in Anderson as a pathologist from 1976 till his retirement in 2006. He belonged to both the Anderson Area YMCA and First Presbyterian Church. Goal-oriented, mentally tough, and competitive, Al possessed qualities that aided in both his career and personal success. He was a versatile athlete who exuded good sportsmanship and contagious energy. No matter the sport he tried, whether it was tennis, scuba diving, or playing golf, he enjoyed it and was excellent at it. He loved to garden and took great pleasure in tending to his many blossoming trees and plants. Al liked the outdoors, but he also had a musical side and would spend hours indoors practicing the piano. His infectious smile and unwavering excitement for life gave much joy to everyone who knew him and made a lasting impression. His devoted wife Dianne Hollingsworth, his children Dr. John Hollingsworth (Holly) of Winston Salem, NC, and Holley Martin (Rodney) of Calhoun Falls, SC, as well as their grandchildren John, Griffin, Gabriel, Gracyn, Micah, and Holly Elizabeth, survive him. His sister Joan Hollingsworth Barringer of Gastonia, NC, and his mother, Mary Hollingsworth, also survive him. Obituary
