Albany Ga: Michael Lewis Obituary, Graduate Of Doughtery County High School Has Passed Away joy anchie, August 9, 2023 Michael Lewis Obituary, Death – Michael B. Lewis passed away on August 2 at his residence. He was 50 years old and had lived in Barnesville, Georgia for many years. Mr. Lewis was born in Albany, Georgia, where he attended and graduated from Doughtery County High School in 1991. In high school, he excelled in both basketball and football and was elected class president. He continued his education in his birthplace by enrolling at Albany State University, from which he graduated in 1996. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in special education from Troy State University. Mr. Lewis moved to Barnesville after marrying his wife of 17 years, Kimberly. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, where he has assisted with the Upward basketball program for students for the past few years. In the past few years, he served as an assistant coach for the boys’ varsity basketball team at St. George’s Episcopal School in Milner. He was well-known and well-liked throughout the community for his generous spirit and good demeanor. His stature, combined with his welcoming smile and kind eyes, made him a magnet for children and adults, enabling him to teach and befriend hundreds of individuals throughout his lifetime. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and his daughter, Maya Grace, both of Barnesville; his son, De’mon Brooks (Teresa), of Charlotte, North Carolina; his daughter, Jayla Palmer, of Atlanta, Georgia; and his son, Aaron Graham, of Valdosta, Georgia. Also surviving are his mother, Delores Fears of St. Louis, Missouri, his sister, Shana Jones of St. Louis, Missouri, and his father, Ben Lewis of Albany, Georgia. Several aunts and uncles and innumerable nieces and nephews are also surviving. The family will receive visitors at the Williams-Westbury Funeral Home in Barnesville on August 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be held at Barnesville’s First Baptist Church on August 9 at 2:00 p.m. A second celebration of Mr. Lewis’s life will be held at The Greater 2nd Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia at noon on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Obituary
