Marques Monroe Obituary, Death – Beatrice E. “Bea” (Marques) Monroe, our much loved mother, lost her valiant struggle with cancer on July 17, 2023, at the Newport Hospital. She fought the disease for a very long time. She was beloved by many people, and we will think of her with a heavy heart going forward. She was the 11th child to be born to John and Bertha (Chenette) Marques, both of whom have since passed away. Her parents were married for 11 years before John’s death. She was faced with a number of difficult circumstances when she was a child, yet she never once whined or moaned about them. Bea and her late husband Tom ran a bed and breakfast in Middletown together before Tom passed away. She was always up for meeting new people and beginning up talks, which contributed to the large number of friends she had. Bea had a wide range of interests, and some of her favorite pastimes included singing, dancing, and cooking. She possessed a rare combination of generosity, wit, and kindness in equal measure. After her departure, her legacy will be carried on by her children: Earl N. Kennedy and his wife Mary of Middletown, Debra Santos and her husband Dan of Middletown, Patrick Kennedy and his wife Susan of Tiverton, and Brian Kennedy. She is survived by her nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and her siblings Edith Reposa, Jackie McArdle, Pearl Kennedy, Richard Marques, and John Marques. In addition to this, she will be parting ways with her family in Arkansas, some of whom she had become especially close to throughout the course of her life. One of his most famous sayings was reportedly, “you knock me down and I’m going to get back up.” This was cited in his obituary. On Saturday, the wake will be held at Bellegrove Missionary Baptist Church from ten in the morning until twelve in the afternoon, and the funeral service will start at twelve in the noon. In the city of Syracuse, the address of the church is 219 Martin Luther King West. The burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery when it is finally done. Obituary
