Brenda Murray Obituary, Death – It has come to our attention with much regret that Mrs. Brenda Murray, a former member of the Mackay Historical Society, has gone away. Mrs. Murray, who was 87 years old at the time of her passing on July 27, 2023, regrettably lost her battle with cancer. Both Brenda and her late husband, Dale Murray, were respected and well-liked long-time members of the Mackay Historical Society. Dale Murray was Brenda’s spouse. Her husband, Dale, who died away on September 11, 2018, was active in the construction of display boards and other items that were needed by the Historical Society at Casey Avenue for a number of years prior to his death, working alongside a fellow member and his offsider Sandy Edwards.

Dale’s death occurred on September 11, 2018. In addition, Dale served the society in various capacities on its committee for a number of years. These positions were the Vice President, Storage and Conservation Officer, Honorary Secretary, and Building Officer. Just prior to Dale’s passing, as his health failed, Brenda would often be seen dropping off and picking up Dale from Casey Avenue on a weekly basis, ensuring that he did not miss a day that he was scheduled to be there on. Prior to Dale’s passing, Brenda was an occasional visitor for many years. Just prior to Dale’s passing, as his health declined, Brenda would often be seen dropping off and collecting up Dale.

Both Dale and Brenda would remain active participants in the Historical Society up until the time that Dale passed away. Brenda was invited as a special guest to the group’s 50th anniversary lunch the year before, but she was unable to go at the time due of her and Dale’s lengthy involvement with the society. We would like to express our sympathies to Brenda’s family and friends on behalf of the Committee of the Mackay Historical Society and all of its members.
