Carol King Obituary, Tolethorpe Youth Drama Founder And President Has Passed Away joy anchie, August 9, 2023 Carol King Obituary, Death – On July 31, our company’s founder and President, Carol King, passed away. The news has left us in utter disbelief and we are extremely sorry to have to share it with you. Carol’s long and amazing career in the performing arts was mostly focused on her work with young people. She founded and directed youth theater organizations in addition to teaching for a number of years at Goldsmiths, University of London. Tolethorpe Youth Drama was established as a result of a request made to her in 2001 to establish a youth theater program at SSC. Working alongside Carol was always an exciting and satisfying experience because of how passionate she was, how knowledgeable she was, how creative she was, and how much experience she had coaching and directing young people. During her time at TYD, she was an inspiration to a large number of pupils, and she took a sincere interest in the development and accomplishments of each individual. Even now, former students of TYD share stories with us about the influence she had on their lives. Her coworkers and students were aware of how compassionate and unique she was, as well as how fortunate we were to be able to learn from her extensive experience and outstanding ability. Since she took her (much-delayed!) retirement a few years ago, she has continued to be a reliable resource for us in terms of counsel and direction. Her impact and extraordinarily high standards will continue to be looked up to for as long as TYD exists, as she is constantly at the center of all we work toward accomplishing here. She was held in high esteem and held a special place in many hearts. We owe her a great deal. During this difficult time, all of our love and thoughts are with her family and friends. Carol, I am grateful to you for everything. Obituary
