Connor passed away there. The locals in County Donegal have identified the young man who passed away in the accident as Connor McGinley.

The young man, who was 19 years old at the time, was the driver of a car that collided with a pole in the early hours of Saturday morning just outside the village of Kerrykeel. Another young guy who was a passenger in the vehicle was transported to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment, however it is believed that his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.There was only one vehicle involved in the accident.

On the primary road connecting Milford and Kerrykeel, just one mile away from Kerrykeel, it is believed that Mr. McGinley’s vehicle lost control and collided with a utility pole. It is believed that there was heavy rain and difficult driving conditions at the time of the collision, which took place at approximately 3.30 in the morning. This morning, the mortal remains of Mr. McGinley were transferred to the morgue located within Letterkenny University Hospital.

A forensics team from the Garda is currently conducting a complete investigation at the location in order to determine the various reasons why the collision occurred. The deceased adolescent belonged to a well-known and respected family in Drumbern, which is located in Milford and is only a few kilometers away from the location of the incident. This brings the total number of fatalities on Donegal’s roadways to three so far in 2018.

Because Garda Forensic Collision Investigators need to perform a technical investigation of the incident, the R246 road in Ranny is temporarily closed. This is to allow them to do their work. Traffic is asked to avoid using this road whenever it is at all feasible, and detours have been set up along the highways R247 and R245, which pass through Rathmullan and Milford respectively.
