Cozy Huggins Obituary, Park City Utah, Cozy Huggins Has Passed Away joy anchie, August 7, 2023 Cozy Huggins Obituary, Death – During the visit and presentation by the Governor of Utah, Gary R. Herbert, which took place on Monday in the Park City High School lecture hall, several students, teachers, and administrators could be seen wearing a piece of cloth with a variety of colors wrapped around their arms. The Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) at the high school encouraged both students and teachers at the institution to show their support for marriage equality by donning the armbands. This activism is just one of the many reasons why the organization is one of the five groups competing for the title of National GSA of the Year. Cozy Huggins, a senior at PCHS and the president of the GSA, stated that she was so pleased with the amount of money her club raised during the Sundance Film Festival that she felt compelled to submit their name for consideration for the prize. After that, they gave $1,000 of the money that they had raised to Restore Our Humanity, a nonprofit organization that is sponsoring litigation against Utah’s Amendment 3, which prohibits marriages between people of the same gender. Huggins stated that there was a discussion regarding the work that was completed over the year during a teleconference that took place today with the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). “It was so awesome that it was taking place at the same time that the governor was in town, and all of our students and teachers wore the armbands while he was speaking.” According to Jamie Gribbin, vice president of the GSA, students wore the armbands to send a message to the governor that a new voting block is coming of age that will not tolerate inequality.
