She passed away before Ignacio on September 14, 2021. Jose Herrera and Maria Perez welcomed her into the world on May 7, 1926 in Bogota, Colombia. In Bogota, Colombia, she wed Ignacio on September 22, 1951. In 1953, Lucra and Ignacio immigrated to the country, first settling in New Orleans before spending some time in Houston. In order to spend more time with their immediate family, she and Ignacio relocated back to New Orleans in 2021. Survivors include her three sons, George Restrepo of New Orleans, Steve Restrepo of Covington, Louisiana and John Restrepo of Las Vegas and their spouses; four “Restrepo” grandchildren, nephews and other relatives in Colombia and the U.S., and friends from both North and South America. Henry Wo Yue-Kee, a Jon Kong artist, taught her how to paint with watercolors and helped her develop her sense of design and balance. Along with Roma Quartana of New Orleans, Edgar Whitney of New York, John Pellow of Connecticut, Barklay Sheaks of Virginia, and Robert Wood of California, she also studied under other well-known artists across the country. With a fusion of Western and Eastern inspirations, Lucra created her own distinctive fashion.
