Dean Powell Obituary, Llantrisant RFC Local Historian, Singer & Journalist has died

Dean Powell Obituary, Death – We are all overcome with grief and disbelief at the news that local historian, musician, writer, emcee, author, and PR guru Dean Powell has passed away. He will be deeply missed by all of us.

Dean was a lifelong supporter of our community, providing assistance to as many local businesses and events as he could. This includes his work as the project manager for the rebuilding of Llantrisant Guildhall, as well as the organization of the Beating of the Bounds and a wide variety of other activities centered around Llantrisant. Dean’s attendance at our Club Dinners was always offered freely.

He was always happy to support his friends on the committee. Additionally, his amusing remarks and tales often outshone many of the star guest speakers that we had engaged for the event. In recent years, he assisted us with the planning and execution of activities commemorating our club’s 125th anniversary, and he also developed a photographic history book about our organization.
As Clerk of the Town Trust, he did everything in his power to move their court leet dinners to the clubhouse, which has proven to be a fantastic opportunity for all parties involved over the course of many years. He had the goal of always aligning and involving our club with the local trust in every way that was feasible. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing him will grieve his passing, and during this unbearably difficult time, our thoughts are with his father David and his husband Jonathan Wickett.
