Dennis was a caring father and husband who was born on April 5, 1943 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to parents named Leonard and Minnie Cope. His adult life was split between Columbia, Maryland; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Orlando, Florida. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from California State University, he went on to earn his Master of Science degree in Elementary Administration and Supervision from the University of Maryland. The Prince George’s County Public Schools presented him with the Outstanding Educator Award in 1985, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County School System honored him as Principal of the Year in 1995. A legendary athlete in the sports of baseball, football, and basketball in his own right, he went on to mentor and coach a large number of pupils in the sports of football, basketball, and softball. He was a phenomenal golfer who enjoyed the game both for recreation and for competition, and he never missed a game of his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, when they were in action. In the course of their four decades together, he and his wife, Linda, spent the majority of their time dancing as members of the Elks and the Beach Boppers of Orlando. Additionally, he enjoyed going to the theater and watching plays and concerts, especially when his daughter Natalie Cordone was in the cast. Obituary
