Eduard Biliy Obituary, Death – Our hearts are torn to deliver the news that Senior Sergeant Eduard Biliy of the 67th Mechanised Brigade, Anti-tank Battalion, went away in a tragic accident while bravely defending Ukraine. We are honored to have served beside him in the 67th Mechanised Brigade. It is with deep regret that we must inform you of this. A little more than a month ago, the Australian Friends of the United Overseas Organization (AFUO) had the privilege of providing non-lethal military assistance to Eduard and his battalion.

The request for this assistance came from a member of our Tasmanian community named Lana Neads, who also happens to be Eduard’s sister. Eduard is from the Cherkasy region of Ukraine and works as a specialist in hydro melioration as his profession. He graduated with a degree from the educational institution. Following his discharge from the military, Eduard pursued a career in law enforcement, first working as an investigator’s assistant and eventually advancing to the position of police inspector.

Before Russia began its all-out invasion of the country, Eduard worked as the head of security for a massive grain company for a period of three years. During that time, the company was located in the country. He enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the end of the year 2022 and eventually rose through the ranks to become the commander of the anti-tank guided missile division. The brave soldier’s life was sadly cut short while he was serving his country in the Luhansk region over the course of a hazardous assignment.

At the time, he was 48 years old. He was in his 48th year. Regarding the sad loss that has befallen Lana Neads and her family, please accept our heartfelt condolences. The ultimate price that Eduard had to pay is one that will not be forgotten in any circumstance.
