Gary Dean Oerly, who was 62 years old and lived in Boonville, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, with his family by his side. On Thursday, August 10, at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Boonville, there will be prayers of the Holy Rosary beginning at 4:45 p.m., followed by visiting that will continue until 7 p.m. On Friday, August 11, at ten in the morning, a Christian burial Mass will be celebrated at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and Father Mark Smith will preside over the ceremony. A complete escort from the Boone County Fire Protection District will be present during the burial, which will take place at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pilot Grove. Gary Oerly, the son of Dean and Marie (Baker) Oerly, was born on February 26, 1961 in Jefferson City, Missouri. His parents are Dean and Marie. On June 9, 1984, he wed the woman who would become the love of his life at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, Missouri. Beverly Kathryn Young was his bride. Both at Farm Bureau Insurance, where he was a supervisor, and at the Boone County Fire Protection District, where he was a captain, he was employed. He was an exceptional example of what it means to be a son, spouse, father, uncle, and friend. Everyone looked up to Gary as a leader and an example to follow. Everyone who knew him held a deep respect and affection for him. He had a kind heart and left an indelible mark not only on his family but also on the people he worked with. Gary will be missed very, very much. Gary’s wife of 39 years is the only person he leaves behind. Bev; two daughters, Kelsey Clark (Eric) of Wentzville, Mo. and Morgan McCartney (Travis) of Kansas City, Mo.; his parents, Dean and Marie Oerly of Boonville; three sisters, Cathy Maupin (David) of Boonville, Sherry Shelton (Bill) of Boonville, and Darla Spangler (Chris) of Sedalia; many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and coworkers.
