The incident occurred in Kapolei. Officer Bill Sapolu, a 21-year veteran of the Honolulu Police Department, was riding his motorcycle on Farrington Highway in Kapolei on July 11 about the time of nine of the clock when he was involved in an accident with a concrete divider. Sapolu was on his way to help another officer who was responding to a complaint for weapons. Sapolu was ejected off his motorcycle, which resulted in his sustaining a number of different injuries. After being transferred there, he was brought there in a life-threatening situation. He was hospitalized until all of the potential medical treatments had been attempted, and “consistent with a life committed to the service of others,” Sapolu’s family honored his desire to donate his organs after he died away. He was hospitalized until all of the possible medical therapies had been attempted. A statement was released on the social media channels of the Houston Police Department, which read, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sapolu’s and the HPD family during this difficult time.” In addition, Sapolu was a member of the military for a total of 22 years, during which time he was sent overseas for four separate tours of duty.
