Herbert (Bert) Cressey Obituary,  Death – Herbert (Bert) Cressey, who was 87 years old, passed away recently, and it is with the deepest regret that I have to inform you of his loss. When Bert joined the Hull City Police Department in September 1957, he was assigned the number 296 position. He began his career at the bottom and worked his way up through the ranks, ultimately retiring as a Superintendent and departing Bransholme as the Sub-Divisional Commander.

At that time, he was serving as the Chief Inspector of Operations, and as such, he was the one accountable for establishing the very first Howden Motorway Unit. Additionally, in 1981 he was in charge of overseeing the opening of the Humber Bridge.
Since he retired in 1988, he has maximized his leisure time by going on trips and being active in the Beverley Twinning Association, for which he was at one stage the chairman of the board.

Beverley has established sister city partnerships with a number of other towns located in a wide range of countries throughout the world. The Narpo have been in touch with their families, and they are aware that they can count on our assistance in any circumstance. His son David, who served in the Humberside Police Force, is remembered by the vast majority of people.
