Irving Yyounger Obituary, Retired FDNY Firefighter Has Died

Irving Yyounger Obituary, Death – The United Firefighters Association is deeply saddened to inform its members of the passing of Robert Hughes, a retired firefighter who previously served with Ladder 134. His passing was due to an ailment that he had picked up while helping to rescue and retrieve victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center after those events. His illness ultimately proved to be fatal.

Firefighter Hughes began his career with the Department on the day he was hired, September 5, 1981, and remained there until the day he retired, September 1, 2005. His tenure with the Department spanned from the day he was hired until the day he retired. We are thankful for his service to our country and are thinking about and praying for the members of his family and friends during this difficult time. Your legacy will endure in our thoughts and hearts for all time.

Even though we are aware that death is a natural and unavoidable component of life, we are never quite ready to say goodbye to a friend or family member permanently. No one ever wants to know the anguish of losing a loved one since the accompanying emotion has the ability to drive people apart and is difficult for everyone. No one ever wants to go through that.
