Ivan Garcia Obituary, Death –  Today, Naples, Florida, greets the return of one of our own, but with sorrowful hearts. In the line of duty, LCpl Ivan Garcia of the United States Marine Corps passed away. 21 years old. Your family is cordially invited to participate in the time-honored custom of this farewell gathering.

As a sign of respect and a sign that the community has stopped its normal activities, people stand carrying flags either in front of the funeral home or somewhere else along the path. Flags outside of businesses are lowered to half-staff positions. Neighbors take off their caps and lay their hands over their hearts as the line of cars passes. Dressing in a casual manner is acceptable.

Today at 6:41 pm, LCpl Garcia will arrive on American Airlines flight #1930. Transfer by the military and police from RSW to the funeral home in Naples located at 3107 Davis Boulevard. Typically, there will be a lengthy line of patriot guard riders, and cars loaded with local families of Gold Star recipients who will ride along to show their support for one another. The funeral home will have police protection all night long.

The funeral procession will then leave Naples Funeral Home tomorrow at 12 in the afternoon, following the service, and make its way to Palm Royal Cemetery on Vanderbilt for the burial at 1 in the afternoon.

This will just take a few minutes of your time, as well as a little bit of forethought. An important life lesson for the kids, a kind gesture to bless the family, and a reminder that Naples cares about our armed forces all rolled into one.
