Jean Mcnish Obituary, Winnipeg Manitoba, In Loving Memory Of Jean Mcnish joy anchie, August 8, 2023 Jean Mcnish Obituary, Death – Jean A. McNish, 92, passed away at Memorial Medical Center. She was a Springfield native, the daughter of Frank Andrew and Marie Beck Young, and was born on November 2, 1927. On May 14, 1955, she got hitched to Eugene McNish. Along with his son Jeffrey, brothers James Young and Frank Young, Jr., sisters Clara Schleyhahn and Mary Brunk, and sisters. She worked at the University of Illinois there, retiring as a program administrative assistant from the College of Agriculture, and the pair resided in Champaign from 1957 until 1991. She had been a devoted supporter of the UI Rebounders basketball team for a very long time. Her husband, a choral music instructor, oversaw a number of Barbershop choruses and held the position of Illinois District President for two years. She cherished the friends of that activity and time, and she wholeheartedly supported these activities. She had previously attended Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign and was a member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church in Springfield. She cherished the time she spent with her friends at “Seasons Under the Oaks,” whether it was playing Bingo together or simply catching up over a cup of coffee. She had always been gifted with a keen mind, and she loved playing dominoes, Scrabble, and crossword puzzles with her loved ones. She enjoyed watching “Jeopardy” and frequently had better knowledge of the answers than the competitors. She was a calm, unassuming girl who was quick to grin, laugh, and flash her blue eyes, making you happy to be around her. She was a wonderful mother first and foremost, loving and empathetic. With a kind heart and a pure soul, Jean always put her children’s pleasure above her own. She was a wonderful friend, counsel, and listener who cherished her children and relished every time spent with them. Obituary
