Joan Stearns Obituary, Pompey New York, Mother Of Three Kills Herself, Stabs Children

Joan Stearns Obituary, Death – Thomas Newton, a public information officer for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, reports that two of the three kids who were stabbed by their mother are now discharged from the hospital. The third youngster, who was very ill, is now doing well.

The mother was recognized by the Sheriff’s Office as 58-year-old Joan Stearns. After being stabbed by their mother this morning in the Town of Pompey, two teenage girls and a brother were transported to the hospital via ambulance. According to Toby Shelley, the sheriff of Onondaga County, at least one of the teens went to a neighbor to ask for assistance at 9:15 a.m., and the neighbor dialed 911.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, the woman shot and killed herself after stabbing her three children. The incident was reported to have occurred on Oran Delphi Road in Pompey, which is located between Number 2 Road and Hill Street. When the Sheriff’s Office arrived, deputies secured the area with the help of the Onondaga County SWAT Team, NYS Troopers, Manlius PD, and Dewitt PD. Through conversation with the kids, it was learned that the mother who had stabbed the kids had returned inside the house.

The female victim was discovered dead inside the home with what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Sheriff’s Office, after many hours of trying to reach her. Police were at the scene for two hours and were joined by a Drone Unit, the helicopter from Onondaga County, Air One, and other organizations.
