John Bilotas Obituary, John F. Bilotas has died joy anchie, August 7, 2023 John Bilotas Obituary, Death – John F. “Bunker” (#141), age 66, of Braintree, Massachusetts, and formerly of South Boston, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at a tranquil environment surrounded by family. John has deep ties in South Boston, having been born and reared in the neighborhood. Over the course of more than three decades. He proudly contributed to the Emergency Medical Services of Boston. In 1982, he began his career in the emergency medical services as an EMT, and in 1986, he became a paramedic. John was a dedicated member of the BPPA-EMS Division throughout his time working there, where he also held the position of secretary for a number of years. John felt a sense of success for the many things he had accomplished during his time working as a paramedic. He was a member of the urban search and rescue team, the special operations department, the hazmat team, and the MMRS, where he worked primarily on emergency preparedness. Additionally, he trained on POP with the police department and the fire department. In addition to that, he was an instructor who taught new emergency medical technicians and paramedics, and he assisted in active shooter drills and training. John was one of the original members of the honor guard for BEMS. John was recognized as the best paramedic of the year and was given the Dr. Hirsch Award for his work in the trauma field. John was an active participant in the peer leadership program and was a dedicated advocate for his fellow workers and all of the members of the union. John particularly liked the enduring bonds and friendships he formed while working at the Boston Emergency Medical Services (EMS). After John retired, he began teaching at the Canadian Medical Training Institute (CMTI), where he instructed EMTSs, paramedics, and fire departments on a variety of job-related skills. John was an active member of the Braintree Rifle & Pistol Club, the Weymouth-Braintree Lodge of Elks #2232, the Braintree Moose Lodge 413, and a great deal of other local clubs in addition to his participation in the Boston Emergency Medical Services union and his achievements there. John delighted in spending his time getting to know the people he came in contact with, and he did so enthusiastically. Everyone he came in contact with was profoundly affected by him. John constantly ran into someone he recognized, regardless of whether he was in his home town or in an other nation.
