On September 7, 1959, Phyllis (Schweisberger) Sterchi and the late Vernon A. Sterchi welcomed him into the world in South Bend, Indiana. John earned a B.A. in theatre and drama from Indiana University in 1985 after graduating from John Adams High School in 1977. He worked as an ensemble member at American Blues Theater (American Theater Company) for many years. He is an actor from Chicago. Additionally, he played at Goodman, Northlight, Steppenwolf, Kansas City Rep, Madison Rep, The Kennedy Center, and Red Barn Summer Theatre on a regional level. A View from the Bridge (Jeff Award Nominee), American Buffalo, Below the Belt (After Dark Award Winner), A Lie of the Mind, Where Have You Gone, Jimmy Stewart, and the movie Road to Perdition are just a few of the memorable performances. John has voiced over more than 300 children’s books, instructional videos, and commercials. His mother, Phyllis, of South Bend, Indiana, and his sisters, Roxann (Jeff) Silvius of Carmel, Indiana, Diane (Scott) Roush of Greenwood, Indiana, Linda (Ken) Grimes of South Bend, Indiana, and survive him. Nathan Roush, Erin (Aaron) Stephens, Kristin (Jason) May, Jeffrey Silvius, Cortney (Kurt) Grandin, Kevin (Alexa) Silvius, and Allison Silvius are also left to mourn his passing. John looked forward to spending the holidays with his family and friends at home.
