Joshua Fair Obituary, 23-year-Old Angler Drowns After Return To River Where Phone Fell joy anchie, August 4, 2023 Joshua Fair Obituary, Death – According to South Carolina investigators, a 23-year-old angler drowned while returning to the location where he had lost his smartphone. When the fisherman fell into the Saluda River, he was on the bank. Divers rescued the man from the river late Wednesday, Aug. 2, after a two-hour search in the Pelzer region, according to the Anderson County coroner’s office. At the scene, the individual was pronounced deceased. A news release named him as Joshua Tyrese Fair of Anderson, some 30 miles southwest of Greenville. “The investigation indicates that the victim died as a result of freshwater drowning, and the case has been ruled accidental,” according to the coroner’s office. Fair was with a friend on the river when he dropped his phone in the water. When it was almost time to depart, he returned to the location where he last spotted his phone and vanished in the water, according to officials. “The victim was not wearing a lifejacket, and alcohol intoxication appears to be a contributing factor,” the coroner’s office noted, adding that it, along with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, is continuing to investigate Fair’s death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least 4,000 individuals drown in the United States each year, and drowning is a prominent cause of mortality for children. Not understanding how to swim, a lack of attentive supervision, not wearing a life jacket, and drinking alcohol while playing near or in water are all risk factors for drowning. According to the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, there are certain tips to keep you safe in the water, such as monitoring local weather conditions, never swimming alone, and using the proper equipment. “If something doesn’t feel right, don’t be afraid to get out of the water,” the organisation advised on its website. “Whether the current is becoming too strong, rain has begun to fall, or your body is simply not responding as it should due to fatigue or muscle cramps, simply leave and return to the water another day.” It’s usually a good idea to follow your instincts.” Obituary
