Judy Winn Obituary, Judy Winn has died joy anchie, August 7, 2023 Judy Winn Obituary, Death – The news of Judy Winn’s passing has left us in a state of profound mourning. Judy Winn moved to Worksop in 1965, shortly after her marriage to Ricky. In addition to her role as a doting mother to Simon, Jonathan, and Matthew, Judy gave her unwavering and wholehearted support to Ricky throughout their years of service to the institution. During this time, Judy and Ricky held the positions of House Master of Portland and subsequently Second Master, respectively. Despite having her own teaching profession at Sir Edmund Hillary Primary School and making connections in the community through St. John’s Church and Cubs, Judy (and Ricky) were wonderfully friendly and hospitable, and they frequently opened up their house at 2 North Copse. Whether she was supporting new members of staff, teaching sewing and embroidery, operating ASH Creative Fabrics, helping the girls with their samplers, or providing the wonderful Woodpeckers’ flag, as well as the new school and centenary flags, her deep Christian faith was always at the center of everything she did. Judy was a swimmer when she was younger and competed for Kent county. She also established the Worksop Dolphins Swimming Club in the 1970s, which is a club that is still active and successful today. She and Ricky started a Christian study group in their home called Rendez-vous, where they offered support to students who were interested in developing a deeper understanding of Christianity. Judy accepted a position as a House Tutor in Gibbs in 1988, and during her time there, she distinguished herself as a mentor who was wise, friendly, and dedicated to the students. I was a “rookie” housemistress in 1990, and I owe Judy a huge amount of gratitude for her unwavering insight, kindness, and dedication. A number of cards with messages like as “Watching hockey” or “In the quiet room” were left outside of the tutor’s apartment in Gibbs. Nobody ever said, “Get out of here, I’m busy” These cards were a testament to Judy’s involvement in Gibbs House as well as her unwavering support for the organization. We admired her genuineness as well as her Christian compassion and steadfastness. A kind woman who will be sorely missed by all. Obituary
