Katja Yumi Obituary, Death –  It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the demise of a remarkable public servant named Katja Bullock. Yumi and I want her family and everyone who cared about her to know that we are sending our sincerest condolences and prayers their way. Because of her dedication to public service, Katja Bullock has made an indelible impression on the lives and careers of a huge number of people.

She worked in the White House Personnel Office during the administrations of three separate presidents, during which time she played an essential role in the selection of presidential appointees.

Her dedication to serving the public led her to accept a position in Iraq in 2002, where she was part of the team that helped create the government of the Coalition Provisional Authority.

As a Young Republican in Maryland Republican politics, I had the honor of getting to know Katja and working with her. This was a great experience for me. She was one of the first people to join our transition team after our unexpected victory in 2014, and she later joined the Hogan-Rutherford Administration as a Senior Advisor in the Governor’s Appointments Office.

The story of Katja’s life is, in every sense of the phrase, the story of the American Dream; it is a story of tenacity, hope, and an infinite number of possibilities. Her rise from Germany all the way to the White House and the State House in the United States ought to serve as a model for all of us.

Katja will be sorely missed, but the countless lives that she changed and the many careers that she influenced will ensure that her legacy will continue to endure long after she is gone. I pray that she finds eternal rest.
