Larry Wells Obituary, Death – On June 29, 2013, in the early morning hours, beloved Toys “R” Us manager Larry Wells was fatally stabbed. One of his coworkers at the Hamburg store in Erie County, New York discovered him lying on the ground in a pool of blood after looking for him there. At the scene of the crime, forensic scientists discovered DNA evidence as well as a University of Florida Gators cap that had been stained with blood.

A portion of the surveillance film seemed to indicate that a person dressed as Wells had entered the store and attacked him. Bernard Grucza, a specialist in loss prevention for the store, was implicated in the crime after his DNA was found to match a sample taken from the scene of the crime. He had been helping with the inquiry from the very beginning, but he had sidestepped every opportunity to provide his own DNA. Grucza came clean and admitted that he had been shoplifting and selling the stolen goods on the internet.

The prosecution thought that he was engaged in the same activity earlier that morning at the store, where Wells confronted him, which ultimately led to Grucza’s decision to kill Wells.
