On November 23, 1944, in the city of Detroit, he was born to parents named George and Eunice (Ferry) Whitbread. George was a cherished family member who was adored for his roles as a spouse, father, grandfather, son, and brother.

He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a veteran of that conflict. Additionally, he was a member of the Moose, Eagles, VFW, and Flaming Pistons Car Clubs.
