Stebbins, a prominent real estate developer and philanthropist, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, and city and community leaders are grieving his loss. He had 67 years under his belt. Stebbins served as the chief executive officer of ProCon, which was marketed as the largest design-build construction company in the state. In addition, he was a co-owner of a hotel network that manages properties in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, one of which being the AC Hotel in Portsmouth. In March, he and Jeff Johnston, the principle of Cathartes and co-owner of the AC Hotel, developed the Portsmouth Together 200 Challenge. Through this competition, they were able to generate more than two hundred and fifty thousand dollars to donate to restaurants and nonprofit organizations in the Portsmouth area that were having trouble surviving the COVID-19 outbreak. The combined contributions of Stebbins and Cathartes to the charity event amounted to a total of $125,000, and Stebbins made additional contributions to philanthropic causes located around the state.
