On June 20th, 2022, he was only 29 years old when he tragically and unexpectedly lost his life to an undiagnosed illness. While Matt was growing up in Waxahachie, he participated in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Some of these activities included playing T-ball, being a member of the Boy Scouts, playing the trumpet in band, and golfing for the high school team. Matt had a lot of fun with all of these activities. In the short span of his life, which only lasted for 29 years, he was able to have a tremendous impact on the lives of the people whom he cared for deeply. Matt rapidly developed a passion for motor vehicles, particularly automobiles and motorcycles, which he later shared with many of his closest friends. Matt’s enthusiasm for motor vehicles inspired many of Matt’s friends to take up the hobby as well. Matt loved spending time with his buddies, going on spontaneous hunting trips, and going on spontaneous road trips, whether they were spent cruising the back roads or heading to the beach. Matt was the kindest, most kind, and most genuine person you’ll ever meet, and he had the largest heart. He was the type of person who would drop everything and rush to the aid of a friend or acquaintance in trouble, and he never met a person he didn’t have a deep connection with. Matt’s mother, Angela Vaughan, stepfather, David Vaughan, and father, Robert Nelson, as well as his siblings Alyssa and husband Jonathan, Emma and Braden, nephews Caiden and Elijah, grandparents Ralph, Lynda, Nancy, and Larry, uncles Mark, Gary, Chris, and Eric, aunts, and a great number of cousins, remember him fondly. Matt also leaves behind a big number of relatives. Angela Vaughan, who would later wed Robert Nelson, became pregnant with Matt after a brief relationship with Robert. Obituary
