Park Hill Stables, which was originally known as Cottage Stables, was a prosperous agistment and sale preparation farm in Timaru that was owned and operated by Sue and Noel, Sue’s husband. At the South Island Sales, they were responsible for the sale of a number of high-quality horses, some of which went on to win Group 1 races, such as Magnet Bay, which they bred themselves, Second Coming (a successful pinhook), and Armstrong. During her time as President of the CMWO NZTBA, Sue was involved in reinstating sale initiatives such as a dinner held the evening before the sale, a race for sale graduates, and sale preparation and turnout tutorials. Sue was also a huge fan of the outfits that were worn during that time period. Sue cherished her role as President of the Branch, and during her time serving in that capacity and on the committee, she was able to accomplish a lot. Rivermist, one of her broodmares, was victorious in the South Island Her accomplishment of being named Broodmare of the Year was one that she took great pride in. Always current in style Over the course of several years, Sue held the position of fashion buyer at Ballantynes Timaru. Sue was once regarded as one of the most accomplished equestrian riders in the Canterbury area. She competed in eventing, showing, and hunter contests, and she was always immaculately attired and expertly mounted. Sue had a perpetually upbeat attitude, and she was always pleased to share her expertise and experience with others whenever it was required.
