He passed away without discomfort on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in the Life Care Center of Lewiston, where he was surrounded by his family. He was raised in Seattle for his formative years. After some time, the family relocated to Toppenish, Washington, where they stayed for the duration of Greg’s junior year in high school. In 1957, the family relocated to Clarkston because Greg’s father had been given the responsibility of managing Meats Inc. It is reported that a family in Toppenish made the offer of their home so that Greg could remain there and finish his high school years while still continuing his athletic ambitions in the sports of football, basketball, and golf. The Bantams of Clarkston High School had no idea that they had acquired a precious commodity at the time. Greg received his diploma from CHS in 1958. He might have attended any one of a number of colleges or universities that provided athletic scholarships. He ultimately decided to enroll at Gonzaga because the school could provide him with a scholarship to play basketball and also gave him the opportunity to try out for the golf team. As a result of his decision to attend Gonzaga, he was finally placed on the starting five with All-American Frank Burgess during his legendary run. Obituary
