Peter Tamburro Obituary, Death – TAMBURRO Engineer at Bell Labs Peter Tamburro, 85 years old On Tuesday, Peter J. Tamburro, who was 85 years old and lived in Berkeley Township, passed away at his home. The Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River, located at 26 Mule Road, was in charge of the arrangements for the funeral.

Mr. Tamburro was born in Hoboken and spent a good portion of his life in Hanover Township. After retiring 24 years ago, he moved to Toms River, which is located in Berkeley Township. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 after having served in the Navy during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of the war.

Mr. Tamburro’s first job was with Westinghouse in Newark, where he was employed as a tool-and-die maker. After that, he worked at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Whippany for the next three decades, rising through the ranks to become an engineer and a senior member of the technical staff there.

During that time period, he was granted ten patents for various ideas related to electrical connectors that he had developed. Mr. Tamburro was an active member of the community and served as a board member in Hanover Township for both the board of health and the board of adjustment. In addition to that, he was a member of the Republican county committee there for a good number of years.
