Richard Smith Obituary, Arvada, Friends And Family Mourns Richard Smith joy anchie, August 5, 2023 Richard Smith Obituary, Death – Richard D. Smith, 76, of Arvada died July 30, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer and overcoming injuries from an accident. His lovely wife of 56 years, Maria Smith, daughters Carrie (Jason) Garnett and Casey (Sean) Bambei, and six amazing grandchildren, Makena, Carson, Kailee, Cooper, Chloe, and Kamryn, survive him. He leaves several nieces, nephews, and relatives as well as his sisters- and brothers-in-law. Dick was born July 14, 1947, in Pueblo, Colorado, and moved to Boulder for college. After graduating in accounting, he worked for Arthur Anderson for 10 years before joining the private sector. He became CFO of Hathaway, now Allied Motion. He retired as CEO in 2013 after 30 years. Dick will be remembered for his hard work, but his greatest legacy will be his love for his family and friends. Carrie and Casey were his pride and the six grandchildren his joy. He enjoyed watching kids play sports, cheering them on, traveling, and having adventures with the family, whether it was to a distant area or in the backyard. Dick loved tennis, golf, and pickleball, but he adored walking on Maui’s beach with Maria in the morning. He never needed recognition for his selflessness, generosity, and compassion. Known as the “Captain”, his courage and kindness captivated everyone he met. We’ll cry because you’re gone yet smile because we have you. You are always in our hearts; we will never be alone. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 26th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Church Ranch Events Center 10200 Wadsworth Blvd., Broomfield, Colorado. A reception with light food will follow the event. Instead of flowers, donate to Katie Adamson Conservation Fund, PATH International, or Lutheran Hospital Collier Hospice. Obituary
