Both of these officers had served with the agency for many years. These two individuals had a combined total of many years of service with the Sheriff’s Office. On July 11, Richard “Troy” Reynolds, a member of the Sheriff’s Office who had served for 27 years, passed away as a result of a medical emergency that took place while he was getting ready to go to work. The incident took place as Richard “Troy” Reynolds was getting ready to go to work. Arturo Romero, a 24-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, was driving home from his shift on Highway 87 on the evening of July 15, when he was hit head-on by a driver who is believed to have been driving under the influence of alcohol. Romero died at the scene. At the scene of the accident, it was determined that Arturo Romero had passed away.
