Richard Whitaker Obituary, Death – Richard Blake Whitaker, age 70, passed away on August 1, 2023 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was a resident of Climax. Funeral Services will be held at the Red Cross Baptist Church in Climax on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 3:00 PM. The Reverend Bud Rowe will be officiating.

After the funeral, the body will be laid to rest at the church cemetery. Richard was not just a co-owner of Whitaker Farms but also its founder. Over the years, he has served on the boards of numerous agricultural organizations, and he is currently serving on the board of the North Carolina Farm Bureau. He was a very involved participant at the Red Cross Baptist Church.

He believed that God was responsible for his greatest achievements, which included his family, the farm that they had constructed together, and his friends. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Faylene Whitehead Whitaker, his sons, Shane Whitaker and wife, Kelly, Travis K. Whitaker and wife, Shannon, four grandchildren, Lilly, Chase, Kenly and Peyton Whitaker, sister, Pamela Whitaker and husband, David Craven, sisters by marriage, Christine Flinchum, Lisa Coley, Sherry Dawkins, Keela Dawkins, nephews, Jonathan, Austin, Trent, Brandon, Matthew, Dakota, Winston, Nolan and nieces, Kaylan and Aileen. His grandparents, George and Larue Whitaker, as well as his parents, George and Larue Whitaker, passed away before him. Richard is now in heaven, where he is no longer suffering from his illness and is instead enjoying a party with his family and the people who came to see him.
