Stephanie Miner Obituary, Stephanie Miner has passed away joy anchie, August 3, 2023 Stephanie Miner Obituary, Death – Stephanie Miner died peacefully July 15, 2023. Stephanie was hospitalized for three weeks after a severe head injury in mid-January. Elderwood Burlington provided hospice. Stephanie was born in Bogliasco, Italy, to Roland Lushington Hayes and Marcia “Mimi” Hilda Chaukley. British father, American mother. Her husband Donald Miner and brother Guy Hayes died first. Stephanie often praised her luck. Her adventures were countless. Stephanie’s mother fled London to avoid German attacks when she was 10. She attended Vermont Episcopal girls’ boarding. At Buckingham Palace, the Lushingtons delivered King George VI teenage Stephanie. Stephanie, a young adult, nursed at Guy’s. She saw her European father, grandparents, Hong Kong mother, and British ambassador stepfather. Stephanie moved to America permanently in the 1960s. She moved to Greenwich Village. French-speaking NYU students constructed a UDHR index. American diplomat George Ball hired her at Lehman Brothers. Stephanie worked hard to create a public garden with a recycling shed and block a major traffic bridge to preserve community members’ health outside of work. She and “The Snarks” supported a theater company and volunteered for Mayor John Lindsay’s project for years. Fungus, flowers, and music fed Stephanie. She met Burlington mycologists in a 1980s Church Street Center adult wild mushroom course. Famous neonatologist Jerold Lucey hired her. Adventures lead Stephanie to Vermont Mycological Society. She and her husband, Don, founded the Friends of the Horticultural Farm in 1994 to protect the University of Vermont Horticulture Farm’s plant collections from suburban expansion.
