Stephaun Wallace Obituary, Death –  We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Stephaun Wallace’s family, friends, and colleagues. Dr. Wallace devoted his life and career to removing the structural and societal barriers that lead to lower health outcomes for Black, LGBTQ+, and other underserved communities. We hope that his work will inspire others to do the same. In the beginning of this year, while Wallace was accepting the Beti Thompson Health Equity Staff Champion Award.

“There are so many communities that are impacted by health inequalities and I hope you’ll all be continuing that work.” “Because if it isn’t COVID-19, then it’s going to be something else — cancer, diabetes, hypertension, or any of the myriad systemic ills that are affecting these communities. On their part, I’d like to extend my gratitude. The work is still being done.” In addition to his charitable work, he was a rock of support for those closest to him.

He was willing to continue his education throughout his life and was intellectually interested as well as keen to discover new ideas and civilizations. He exuded an enthusiasm for learning that motivated people in his immediate circle to go on their own personal intellectual adventures. His participation in conversations was invariably informative, and it prompted introspective debates that left an indelible mark on all those individuals who had the good fortune to interact with him.

When we think of him, it brings us solace to know that he had a life that was worth living before he passed away. Those whose lives were altered by his presence will carry on his legacy of love, generosity, and empathy in their hearts long after he is gone. Even if he is not physically present with us anymore, his spirit will continue to direct and motivate us to become better, more compassionate people even after he has passed away.
