Always on time, consistently hardworking, and putting the needs of the customer first. Our gratitude for everything Steve has done for Luft & Sons during his career cannot be adequately expressed via the use of words alone. He had actually become more like a member of the family. Steve, we’re going to miss seeing you wear that bright red “Luft & Sons” hat. Stay at peace in the Lord’s embrace until the next time we meet. Tomorrow, we will be commemorating Steve’s life at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa. If you would like to join us, you are more than welcome to do so. At the Fonda Specialty Care facility in Fonda, Iowa, on Monday, August 7, 2023, Rolfe resident Steve Shimon, 59 years old, passed away. The 15th of August, 1963 found Steven Lowell Shimon being brought into the world at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended Rolfe High School and was the son of Lowell and Adele (Haag) Shimon. He received his diploma there. After working in the family farm for a short time with his father, Steve went to work for Luft & Sons, where he remained for more than 35 years and really enjoyed running the dozer. Steve was a friend, guide, and model for many people, and his influence was widespread. He had a beneficial influence on a great number of people, both young and old alike. A few miles to the south of Rolfe was where he established his home on a farm. Steve delighted in spending time with his family and friends, the farm, giving tractor rides, providing a helping hand, his tractors, golfing, pitching a softball fundraiser, and eating a delicious ribeye steak from Iowa that had been barbecued on an outdoor grill. Cathy Shimon of St. Paul, Minnesota; Louis Shimon of rural Pocahontas; Sue Shimon of Pocahontas; and Ben Shimon of Storm Lake are her surviving siblings. Obituary
