(Grover) Lehmann died quietly at The Linden in Brookfield on July 24, 2023. On June 8, 1935, Staten Islander Mildred L. (Steele) and Edmund T. Grover had Sue. After graduating from Curtis High School in 1953, Sue took the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan daily to work as a switchboard operator at Argo Cornstarch on the 79th floor of the Empire State Building. She avoided windows because she was afraid of heights! She married John E. Lehmann on a blind date and had three daughters and two sons on Staten Island before moving to North Brunswick, NJ and having another daughter. As a replacement coach, she raised her children in PTA, Cub Scouts, class trips, and Little League. Sue joined her second home, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, in Newtown in 1979 after the Lehmanns moved there. Sue joined the parish 30 years later and spent many hours sewing church play costumes, teaching religious education, working with the youth club, and preparing church hospitality, including washing and ironing hundreds of tablecloths. At-home mom in Newtown Sue became the kids’ second mom. Sue picked up and brought home ill neighbor kids from school. She adored her Concord Ridge Rd neighbors and had tea every morning at her kitchen window to watch the cars. Friends and neighbors knew she was always up for honest counsel, jokes, gossip, and tea. Sue moved full-time to her Florida second home in 2008 to be near her children and grandchildren. Dolphins jumping as the sun set from her Isla del Sol townhouse back door was her favorite. She came to CT after 10 years to miss Newtown and her youngest grandsons. Sue loved organizing and cooking holiday dinners for her huge family. She loved making Christmas mornings special for her kids and grandkids. She was witty and enjoyed making friends, family, and strangers laugh! Sue enjoyed traveling, sewing, knitting, crocheting, eating out, and General Hospital for 50 years. Obituary
