Theresa Theis Obituary, Death – Theresa Veronica Theis, age 77, of South Bend and formerly of Elkhart, went away in a calm and serene manner at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center on Monday, January 16, 2017. At the moment of her demise, she was cared for by her loved daughters who were by her side. On June 29, 1939, Theresa Moran was brought into the world by her parents, Thomas and Anne (Kelly) Moran, who were living in Sheffield, England at the time.

Her formative years were spent in Ireland, her birthplace and a place she holds very dear to her heart. Her brother Thomas Moran, her nephews Brian Sheridan and Christopher Fabing, as well as her ex-husband John A. Theis, all passed away before she did. Her parents and her ex-husband John A. Theis were all among those who came before her in death. Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth (Chuck) Hartzell of Bristol, Theresa (Mike) Serafino of Elkhart; 3 grandchildren, John, Liza, and Hannah; 5 sisters, Anne (Jim) Sheridan-Pullos, Margaret (Chuck) Fabing, Eileen Moran, Mary (Steve) Bolte, Rita Pernick; also 5 brothers, Michael Moran, Stephen (Judy) Moran, James Moran, Vincent Moran and Patrick Moran; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews survive as well.

Theresa got a job at Marshall Field & Co. after gaining experience in the retail industry at Oaklawn in Elkhart for a while. She had previously identified with the Catholic Church of St. Thomas the Apostle as a member. Theresa treasured the opportunities she had to spend time with her large extended family, and in particular, the opportunities she had to spend time with her grandkids. In addition to that, she had a strong passion for antique shopping.
