Barbour Obituary, Death – The Brattleboro Police Department was able to determine the identity of the person whose body was found in the woods in between the Harris Hill Ski Jump and the Retreat Farm. The victim was a person who had been murdered. According to the Brattleboro Police Department (BPD), the investigation into the “suspicious” death of Brattleboro resident Timothy P. Barbour, who was 59 years old, is still ongoing. After receiving a call about a body down an embankment on August 2, at one o’clock in the afternoon, the Brattleboro Fire Department arrived to the location and opened an investigation into the incident. The Windham County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team, the Vermont State Police K-9 teams, and New England K-9 Search and Rescue have all provided the Brattleboro Police Department with support throughout the investigation. According to a member of Barbour’s family who requested anonymity at this time, Barbour was “a good man… a son, brother, uncle, and great friend to many.” According to the member of the family, Barbour’s passing has left the family in utter disarray. According to a member of Barbour’s family, not only did he enjoy playing sports, but he also coached baseball. Barbour entered a guilty plea in January 2022 to the charge that on February 11, 2021, he attempted to rob two people working as volunteers at the ticket counter of the ski hill at Living Memorial Park. He was given a prison sentence of one year and one month. “I shocked myself that I was so out of my head that I did what I did,” Barbour told the court during his sentence. “I did what I did because I was so out of my mind.” Barbour used a huge metal pipe as a weapon toward the two employees in order to extort money from them. Instead, one of the volunteers punched Barbour, which led to a confrontation between the two of them. Mimi Brill, who is the supervising attorney at the Windham County Public Defender’s Office, informed the court that her client was having difficulties with substance usage. “His addiction to drugs is what drove him to do this,” she stated. According to Barbour, he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time of the occurrence. “I was a mess,” Barbour said to the judge of the Windham Superior Court, Michael Kainen. “This is not a representation of the kind of person I am in any way. I am ashamed of myself. Kainen agreed to plead guilty to one count of assault and robbery with a deadly weapon in exchange for a sentence of between five and seven years, with the exception of the first six months of his sentence being suspended.
