Urgent Moment to Reverse National Crime Trends

In spite of this, our nation has endeavoured to respond to the problems through revolutionary public policy efforts that have propelled America towards a more perfect inclusive union. These endeavours have occurred in the midst of the largest domestic challenges in the history of our country.

There are undoubtedly brand new obstacles to overcome in the modern day, but there are also continuous conflicts that have not yet been resolved. Civil rights battles are still being fought today, and there are still situations that date back to the 1960s that continue to deny justice, equality, and opportunities for all people. Every day, people of colour are subjected to abuse as a result of these battles and conditions.

An old proverb states that acknowledging the existence of an issue is the first step towards finding a solution to that problem; nevertheless, taking that initial step can be difficult.

There is still a large gap in educational opportunity between the wealthiest school districts and the poorest school districts in our country. There is still disparity in access to healthcare, work, and financial credit, and there is a fundamental violation of civil and human rights in our system of criminal justice. These problems can be traced back to the fact that we have a two-tiered society.

In the United States of America, misguided pseudo-progressive policies such as “defund the police” and “soft on crime” procedures are literally contributing to the deaths of hundreds of people of colour every single day.

The reality is that there is no way to control the level of crime in this country, particularly in far too many of our major cities. People of colour make up the majority of those who are victims, despite the fact that many people choose to ignore the problem: People of colour make up 73 percent of rape victims, 72 percent of robbery victims, and 80 percent of felony assault victims. Additionally, 68.7 percent of people incarcerated in the United States are people of colour, and 44 percent of people killed by police in the United States are people of colour.
