William Riordan Obituary, Death – At the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Dr. Riordan served as the Chief of Emergency and General Surgery Services and as an Assistant Professor of Surgery for the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctor of Medical from the University of Kentucky/College of Medicine.

He was a very accomplished engineer. His postgraduate education consisted of a residency and fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care, all of which he completed at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was the recipient of a great number of honors and awards in the disciplines of medicine and surgery. Dr. Riordan has been published in a number of medical journals and books, in addition to having presented his research at a number of medical conferences.

His parents, William Patrick Riordan, Sr. and Theresa Ann Kassab Riordan, passed away before he did. Dr. Riordan followed in their footsteps. Survived by his step-mother, Patricia Riordan; sister Margaret Bracken and brother-in-law, James Bracken of Langhorne, PA; step-brother, Lee Woulfe; step-sister, Kelly Varcoe; nephew, James Michael Bracken, Jr.; niece, Katherine Lynn Bracken; aunt, Margaret Kassab; former wife, Jenny Riordan; beloved friend, Heather Webb; many cousins, friends and Vanderbilt colleagues whom cared and loved him very much; and his beloved dogs, Oliver and Beags.
